From its Brisbane base, BoardConnect has now been providing free board development opportunities for non-profit organisations, particularly arts organisations, for the past two years.  During that time, residencies have also been held in Cairns and Townsville, to support regional organisations.  

Now Gold Coast non-profit organisations have an invaluable opportunity to build the capacity of their boards and management committees when BoardConnect conducts a residency on Monday 27th and Tuesday 28th September 2010.

Program Director David Fishel will conduct two public workshops on board-related topics, with contributions and assistance from other industry specialists.  The workshop topics are:

• Effective Board Meetings – how to make sure your board is using its meeting time to the best advantage.  It may include things such as an effective agenda; timely and comprehensive board papers; and designation of matters for information, action or decision.

• Financial Basics - Understanding the basics of financial reports and the indications to look for when tracking your organisation’s financial health.
