From its Brisbane base, BoardConnect has now been providing free board development opportunities for non-profit organisations, particularly arts organisations, for the past two years.  During that time, residencies have also been held in Cairns and Townsville, to support regional organisations.  

Now Gold Coast non-profit organisations have an invaluable opportunity to build the capacity of their boards and management committees when BoardConnect conducts a residency on Monday 27th and Tuesday 28th September 2010.

Program Director David Fishel will conduct two public workshops on board-related topics, with contributions and assistance from other industry specialists.  The workshop topics are:

• Effective Board Meetings – how to make sure your board is using its meeting time to the best advantage.  It may include things such as an effective agenda; timely and comprehensive board papers; and designation of matters for information, action or decision.

• Financial Basics - Understanding the basics of financial reports and the indications to look for when tracking your organisation’s financial health.

In addition to the public workshops, we will hold board clinics with individual boards of funded arts organisations in the Gold Coast area to discuss particular issues of interest or concern. David will also hold a round-table discussion with boards and senior staff of these organisations.
